Understanding the Effects of Trauma on Youth and Families

Target Audience: All Staff / Team Members | Duration Format: Single Session

Objectives:

• Identify at least three trauma symptoms in children and adolescents
• Illustrate the relationship between trauma and other areas such as behavior and physical health
• Define possible behaviors that may be understood as trauma related
• Recognize possible "triggers" and "warning signs" for youth with trauma issues while in a secure facility
• Define Trauma Informed Care and develop ideas for facility strategies for self-care and safety within the unit with respect to the impact of trauma
